H2U Technologies develops catalysts and porous-transport electrodes (PTEs) for water electrolysis.

Our industry partners use our catalysts and PTEs to construct non-Iridium, high performance, highly durable electrolyzer stacks that are particularly suited for pairing with renewable energy sources.

The world-class technology featured in our products stems from ten years of research and development at Caltech, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Catalyzing the Hydrogen Economy

The world is rapidly adopting green hydrogen as the clean energy carrier for decarbonizing global industries across the board – transportation, energy, metals, chemicals, construction, and others comprise the vast majority of carbon emitting industries.  Today, using hydrogen for decarbonization depends on rare, expensive precious metals used as catalysts for producing hydrogen and converting it to clean power.

How do we get there?
CDE for PEM electrolyzers

Our CDE is a data-driven, rapid-screening process that allows scientists to make, characterize, and quantify the catalytic activity of thousands of material compositions per week. In the coming years, highly constrained sources of PGM materials will lead to product shortages and electrolyzer price increases.

Using its patented CDE technology, H2U Technologies has discovered novel, non-iridium catalyst materials that have been validated both in-house and through third-party testing by the #1 global supplier of catalytic coatings.
